Savings & credit cooperatives
Member lending your general assembly can inspect
A cooperative answers to its members. That makes complete, readable records less of a compliance chore and more of a governance necessity — and it is exactly what Khepee produces by default.
A note on cooperative regulation
Cooperatives in Nepal are regulated under the cooperative framework and by the Department of Cooperatives, which is distinct from the NRB regime that governs Banks and Financial Institutions. The regulatory limits encoded in Khepee reflect NRB’s digital lending requirements. Before deploying with a cooperative, your own legal counsel must confirm which limits, reporting duties and permissions apply to your institution — they may differ from those described elsewhere on this site. We will configure the platform to whatever your counsel establishes, and we will not guess on your behalf.
Members
Membership is the relationship, not just a record
Lending to members is different from lending to customers: there is a share balance, a savings history and a governance relationship behind every application.
- Member records with savings and share context available at decision time
- Application history visible to the officer reviewing a new request
- Members see their own loan schedule and history in the app
- Member data scoped to your cooperative alone
Governance
Records for the annual general meeting
When a member asks at the AGM why a particular class of loan was approved and another was not, the answer is in the trail — with the criteria, the decisions and the reasons.
- Every decision recorded with its reason and its decision-maker
- Portfolio and ageing figures produced from the same audited events
- Exports attributable, so committee reporting is reproducible
- Personal data shown as a hash in the trail, so records can be presented without exposing members
Consistency
The same rules for every member
The most common governance complaint in a cooperative is inconsistent treatment. A codified credit policy applies identically regardless of who is on duty or who knows whom.
- One configured credit policy, applied to every application
- Scorecard factors visible, so a decision can be explained
- Adverse decisions cannot be saved without a written reason
- Committee-level oversight of the criteria themselves, not just the outcomes
What changes
From ledger books to a live position
Members apply from their phone
In Nepali, without travelling to the office during working hours.
Documents captured digitally
Encrypted, searchable, and not vulnerable to a filing-cabinet fire.
Decisions recorded as they happen
Not reconstructed from memory at month end.
Schedules generated once
The member and the office look at the same numbers.
Position visible continuously
Ageing and exposure available to the committee at any time.
Fit
Honest about where we fit
Khepee is built for institutions running a lending book with defined products and staff who review applications. If your cooperative lends informally on committee discretion without documented criteria, the platform will feel like an obstacle — and we would rather say so than sell it to you.
- Best fit: defined loan products with documented criteria
- Best fit: staff who review and decide, distinct from those who apply
- Poor fit: fully discretionary lending with no product structure
- We will tell you if we are the wrong tool
Khepee is a technology provider, not a lender
Khepee is operated by Lacspace Corporation Pvt. Ltd. It is not a bank or financial institution, does not lend, does not accept deposits and does not hold customer funds. Lending is carried out by partner institutions licensed by Nepal Rastra Bank under their own licence and credit policy. Khepee makes no claim of NRB licensing, approval, registration or endorsement, and nothing here is an offer of credit or financial advice.
