For borrowers
What you should expect, and what you should demand
This page is written for you rather than for the institutions we work with. If any lending app — ours included — does not meet the standards below, that is a reason to walk away.
Khepee does not lend you money
Khepee is software. The money comes from a bank or financial institution licensed by Nepal Rastra Bank, and that institution decides whether to lend to you, on what terms, and at what interest rate. Khepee provides the app and the process. Any loan agreement you enter is with the licensed institution, not with Khepee or Lacspace Corporation Pvt. Ltd. If you are ever unclear who your lender is, ask — and expect a straight answer with a name.
What you should expect
Six things any lender should tell you before you borrow
Who is lending
The name of the licensed institution, not just an app name. You are entitled to know who your creditor is.
The total cost
The interest rate, every fee, and the total amount you will repay — before you agree, not after.
The full schedule
Every instalment, its amount and its due date, visible from the moment the loan starts.
What happens if you are late
Any penalty and the consequences, stated plainly in advance.
What data is collected
What is taken, why, how long it is kept, and who can see it.
How to complain
A named channel with a response time, and an escalation route beyond it.
Your phone
What our app will never ask for
Some lending apps in South Asia demand access to your contacts, photos and location, then use them to pressure you or your family. Ours does not ask, and those permissions are blocked in the app itself.
- No access to your contacts. Ever.
- No access to your location.
- No scanning of your photo library.
- The camera is used only to photograph your identity document and take a selfie for verification.
Your documents
What happens to your citizenship certificate
Your documents are encrypted before they are stored and are never left publicly accessible on the internet. They are used to verify your identity for this loan, and for nothing else.
- Encrypted at rest with a key separate from the database
- Never given a public web address; access requires a short-lived signed link
- Every time a member of staff views your details, that access is recorded with a reason
- Kept for as long as the law requires after your loan closes, then no longer
If you are declined
You are entitled to a reason
A decline is never automatic on Khepee — a person at the lending institution makes that decision, and the platform will not record it without a written reason.
- No application is refused by a computer alone
- A reason is recorded and retained for every decline
- You may ask the lending institution for that reason
- Being declined once does not bar you from applying again later
Borrow carefully — a loan is a real obligation
Borrowing money costs money. You will repay more than you receive, and missing instalments may lead to penalties, recovery action and a record that affects your ability to borrow in future. Never borrow to repay another loan without advice. Never share your one-time code with anybody, including someone who says they work for the lender or for Khepee — we will never ask for it. If an app or an agent asks for your code, for an advance fee before disbursement, or for access to your contacts, stop and report it.
If something goes wrong
How to escalate, in order
Contact the lending institution
They are your creditor. Their grievance channel is the first and usually fastest route.
Contact Khepee for platform problems
If the issue is the app or the technology rather than the lending decision, write to our grievance address.
Escalate within the institution
Every licensed institution has a defined grievance escalation process. Ask for it in writing.
Escalate to the regulator
If the institution does not resolve it, Nepal Rastra Bank operates a grievance mechanism for customers of licensed institutions.
Questions
Ask us anything, before you borrow
We would much rather answer a question early than resolve a complaint later.
